Wiscassett, ME-- Race #1 of the 1999 NEPSA Tour was held today at Wiscassett Raceway for the first time in three years. A large crowd was on hand to watch 30 of the best Pro Stock drivers in the northeast compete for the $3000 to win feature. 18 NEPSA drivers were joined by 12 Wiscassett regulars. NEPSA regular Sam Sessions took the pole with a time of 14.938. Click here for full time trial and heat results.
This was a very emotional day for Mike Rowe. Maine Pro Stock driver Dave Kimball, a friend of Rowe's, passed away in late March. In honor of his friend, Mike changed the number on his car from the familiar #24 to Kimball's 12x. Before the start of the feature, in accordance with Kimball's will, Kimball's son road around Wiscassett Raceway in Rowe's car and spread Dave's ashes. Spured on by this emotional day, Rowe went on to win the main event. Rowe did a Polish victory lap and dedicated his victory to Kimball.
The next race for the NEPSA Tour will be May 16 at Unity Raceway, in Unity, ME.
