Patrick Laperle swapped the lead with fellow Quebec driver Karl Allard through turns three and four in the final lap of Sunday's Mekkelsen RV Foliage 200 at Airborne Raceway and won his first ever ACT Late Model Sportsman Series event. Laperle dove to the bottom when Allard drifted high in the final turn then took a refuse to lose route to the finish line while Allard brushed the wall and ricocheted across the stripe in second, six feet ahead of third place Eric Williams.(details) .

Daniel Guay captured is third win and the final event of the season on the PROLAB Super Series Schedule.

Guay went across the finish line just ahead of veterant Claude Leclerc who finished second. Finishing third and crowned rookie of the year was Carl Patry. Rene Blanchet, Alain Maltais and Jacques Poulin were all on the leader's lap at the end of the 100 laps event held at Circuit Ste-Croix on September 9.

Two-time Airborne Raceway Late Model Sportsman Champion Brent Dragon was a convincing winner in Saturday night's Agway Energy Products main event at Airborne Raceway on August 15.

Dragon went door to door with runner-up Bucko Branham for several circuits following a restart on lap 12 and after gaining the point, stayed in complete command. Gary Cunningham had a strong run for third place while behind him, Steve Renaudette and Scott Dragon had an exciting duel for fourth that went to Renaudette by two feet at the wire.

Sylvain Lacombe won the 100 laps ADL Tobbacco rain postponed event held Saturday, August 14, at Autodrome Montmangny. Karl Allard - the current points leader - and André Beaudoin rounded out the top 3. The next event on the schedule will be at Autodrome St-Felicien on August 22nd.

Late Model Sportsman Chad Wheeler followed up several recent top five performances with the best possible top five finish Thursday night, August 13, at Thunder Road. Wheeler swept past Chuck Beede on lap 23 and went on to win the Fisher/Federated Auto Parts Late Model Sportsman 40 Lap main event, his first career victory. A late surge by defending Thunder Road Champion Phil Scott earned him the runner-up spot, two cars lengths ahead of Dave Whitcomb.

International Pro Stock Challenge Officials have announced a schedule change for the series’ 1999 season finale. The Citra 150, originally planned for Saturday, September 11th, has been rescheduled for Friday, September 10th at 7 p.m.

Many followers of the International Pro Stock Challenge have said it was only a matter of time before Turner, Maine’s Ben Rowe scored a win on the series, but no-one was more surprised than Ben Rowe when the win came in Saturday night’s Copenhagen Inc./Ultramar Corner Stores 150 at Scotia Speedworld. Daniel Guay won race #8, the Carquest 150, on the Prolab Super Series schedule. Richard Beauchamps finished second and Quebec's Ironman Claude Leclerc finished third. Twenty two cars took the green flag on the fast Chicoutimi race track.

Wet weather forced postponement of the ACT Late Model Sportsman Series Twin 100's planned for Saturday and Sunday July 24, 25 at Autodrome St-Felicien, St-Felicien, Quebec. The event has been rescheduled to take place on Saturday, September 18 when the first half of the doubleheader will resume with the Late Model Sportsman "B" feature. Both 100 lap races will be run on Saturday.

Veteran Jim Cilley caught Kendell Legendre with three laps remaining in the NAPA Night Late Model Sportsman Trophy Dash, at Thunder Road on July 24, for his first win of the year and the 11th of his career.

Legendre stayed put in second place ahead of Derek Ming for his best finish of the season. Several car lengths back, Tracie Bellerose, Jamie Fisher and point leader Eric Williams ran nose to tail for 4th, 5th, and 6th. Phil Scott, after closing to third at the halfway mark, fell a bit off the pace and settled for 7th ahead of Jimmy Young, Pat Corbett and Billy Herring. Dave Whitcomb, number two in the Thunder Road title chase, soldiered on for 12th, well behind the leaders but enough to remain two points ahead of Jamie Fisher.

Brian Hoar and Chuck Beede, fifth and sixth in points going in, had a worse time of it. Both were gone after a lap four restart, Hoar with a broken lower control arm and Beede with clutch problems.

When two time ACT Late Model Sportsman Series Champion, Brian Hoar, takes to the Autodrome St-Felicien track the story will be different than it was just a year ago, when he won the twins 100.

The track will be the same, but Hoar was not leading the points championship last year or was he facing the best Quebec drivers from the ranks of the ADL Tobbacco series competitors. This time, on July 24th and 25th, he will have to face it all during the AUTOPRO Super-weekend.

International Pro Stock Challenge competitors will participate next Saturday in round 4 of 6 at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada).

With the first two rounds going to Canadians, Scott Fraser and Bobby White, and the third one going to Ralph Nason from the United States - this leads up to quite some International rivalry. (details).

Prolab Super Series Officials announced an additional event to be ran at Circuit Ste-Croix on Monday, July 19 @ 19:00. The 100 laps race will consist of four times 25 laps, each starting lineup will be the inverted finishing positions from the previous segment.

Drivers from the Prolab Super Series, the St-Eustache CASCAR Series and ADL Tobbacco Series are expected to compete on the long and fast track. In the event of rain the race will be postponed to Tuesday night.

Chris Fisher put a history of Thunder Road struggles to rest Sunday when he held off Bill Marsha's Allied Engine Monte Carlo and the late charging Brian Hoar to win the ACT Late Model Sportsman Series (LMS) Coca-Cola 100. The runner-up effort was a career best for Marsha, who stayed glued to Fisher over the final eighty laps. Hoar, the Series point leader, moved in on the leaders after a lengthy battle with Thunder Road Champion Phil Scott and knocked on the door, but to no avail.(details).

The new Canadian truck series, PRO CAM, has cancelled a couple of events scheduled at Autodrome Montmagny and Autodrome St-Felicien. Meanwhile two events at Autodrome Chicoutimi have been added, July 31 and August 21, to the schedule. No official reports on the reasons for the changed schedule. Rumours are that lack of assured purses forced the Series director to cancel and move elsewhere.

Racin' Ralph Nason became only the second back-to-back winner and picked up a check for a whopping $42,700 (USD) for his efforts when he won the Annual 1999 True Value Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine on Sunday, July 4 1999. There were 98 cars on hand for Round 3 of the 1999 International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC). (details).

Steven Boissonault was credited with the win of the Prolab Super Series event ran at Circuit Ste-Croix on June 24. Donald Theetge crossed the finish line first, but post race inspection revealed an unapproved part for competition, he was relegated to last place. Behind Boissonault were Daniel Guay, Yvon Bedard, Jacques Poulin, Carl Patry, Daniel Charest, Alain Maltais, Rene Blanchet, Rejean Blanchet, Sebastien Arsenault.

In just two weeks, race teams will be packing their haulers and heading for Halifax, Nova Scotia and the running of the June 26th Forbes Chev. Olds. 150 at Scotia Speedworld, which marks the start of the busiest week of the year on the 1999 International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC) calendar. (details).

Patrick Laperle took command of the McBride Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman feature at the halfway mark Saturday night (June 5) at Airborne Raceway and raced away, uncontested, to his first career win. The former Airborne LMS Rookie of the Year from St. Denis, Quebec turned in some of the season's quickest laps and outmatched runner-up Mark Lamberton, who also checked out on the field over the final fifteen laps.

Lautenschuetz and Tony Poissant kept things interesting with a door to door war for fourth. Lautenschuetz outlasted the Alburg, VT veteran, then held off a late charge by Robin Wood to wrap up the fourth spot. Positions 6-10 went to Chris Fisher, Dave Whitcomb, Poissant, Brian Hoar and Bill Fountain.

Donald Theetge signed his second win in as many outing when he won the Prolab 50 at Circuit Ste-Croix on Saturday, June 5. The race, the third one on the Prolab Super Series schedule.

Steven Boissonneault, Daniel Guay, Jacques Poulin and Dany Fortin rounded out the top five. During the race Chritian Beaulieu violently hit the front stretch wall causing substantial damages to his race car and shaking himself pretty well in the process.

Officials for the International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC) say the new stock car racing series is turning out to be exactly what they had hoped and planned it to be - a series to bring together the best racers from many different forums, thus creating an exciting show for both the racers and the race fans. Steven Boissonneault won the C.T.R. Bridgstone 100 race ran at Autodrome Chicoutimi on May, 29, 1999. The 100 lap race, second on the PROLAB Super Series schedule, had four different leaders and 15 participants. Behind Boissoneault were Daniel Guay, Jacques Poulin, Alain Maltais and Dany Fortin.

Phil Scott scored a two car length victory over Jim Cilley in the 28th Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic at Thunder Road. It was the second ACT Late Model Sportsman Series checkers in two starts on the high banked quarter mile for the defending track champion and it moved him unofficially within three points of Series leader Brian Hoar. Scott Fraser drove to his first-ever career victory at Oxford Plains Speedway in the New England Dodge Dealers 100, the opening round of the 1999 International Pro Stock Challenge Series. Behind him were Tim Brackett, Jerry Babb, Dave Dion and Ben Rowe rounding out the top five. (details).

Steve Renaudette took early command of the WOKO Radio 30 lap Late Model Sportsman (LMS) feature Saturday Night at Airborne Raceway and made it hold up through three restarts over the final eight laps for his first win of the season. Scott Dragon, Brian Hoar and Chris Lautenschuetz advanced to second, third and fourth respectively. Gary Cunningham completed a strong, steady effort for fifth place. Dave Whitcomb, Robin Wood, Bill Fountain and rookie Todd Brunelle were the 6-10 finishers. Patrick Laperle, the point leader going into the WOKO main event, suffered a broken tie rod in an early altercation with Chris Fisher, and wound up 20th.

Brian Hoar, the defending American Canadian Tour Series Champion, got his three-peat campaign in full swing Saturday night (15/05/1999) at Airborne Raceway. Scott Dragon, Chris Fisher, Fred LaGoy and Eric Williams rounded out the top five.(details).

Former NEPSA Champion, Ralph Nason, dominated the race ran at Unity Raceway on Sunday, May 16, 1999. Kenny Wright was 2nd, followed by Scott Chubbuck, Steve Nelson, and Chuck Lachance to round out the top 5. (details)

After a long winter, Quebec racing fans will have the chance to see two major touring series races within 200 kilometers on the same weekend. This coming Saturday at 18:00 the PROLAB Super Series, sanctionned by CASCAR, will be racing at Circuit Ste-Croix for 100 laps.

On Sunday at 13:00 the Série A.D.L. Tobacco - LMS Québec, associated to ACT, will race at Autodrome Montmagny for 100 laps.

On May 8, 1999, rain forced the postponement of the 26th Annual Egglefield Ford Spring Green. The race as been rescheduled for May 15 at 19:00 at the Airborne Raceway speedplant. The Spring Green '99 has a posted purse of $16,500 and is the second of twelve events on the 1999 ACT schedule.

Phil Scott won the first event of the American Canadian Tour schedule, a race held on Sunday, May 2, 1999 at Thunder Road Speedbowl, in Barre, VT. Completing the podium were Joey Laquerre and Jimmy Young (details).

Sunday, April 25 Mark Lamberton captured the inaugural Remington All-Star Shootout at Airborne Raceway. The special $5,000 to win event marked the 45th season opener at the Plattsburgh, NY half mile.

The Shootout, patterned after the Milk Bowl (or the Winston Cup Bud shootout), consisted of three 12 lap segments with points earned by order of finish in each one. Lamberton matched Brian Hoar's three round point total (13) and earned the checkers by having a better finish in the final leg (fourth vs Hoar's fifth). (details).

The Champlain Valley Motorsports Show will take place this coming weekend at the Crete Civic Center (Saturday, April 3 from 10am - 8 pm). NASCAR Winston Cup Jeff Gordon Show Car #24 will be among the race cars featured at the show. Other exhibitors will include Brian Hoar, Mike Bruno, Chris Lautenschuetz, Mark Lamberton, Robin Wood and Jamy Begor. Admission is $6/Adults and $2/Children (6-12).

1999 is the year for startup series in Quebec. Rhéal Carpentier and Michel Groux (Angle Châssis)have released a preliminary schedule for the spec truck series to debut this summer.

A $15,000 point fund (1st: 3000$, 2nd: 2000$, 3rd-12th: 1000$) is posted by the series sponsors: Cooper Tires (10,000$), BG Products (2000$), Excellence Dodge Chrysler (2000$) and Béton du parc (1000$.

American Canadian Tour Officials confirmed they will sanction a twelve race series, the Quebec LMS Series, that will be held at Autodrome Montmagny (6 events), Autodrome St-Felicien (5 events) and one event at Capital City Speedway in Ottawa, Ontario.

With a posted purse of $168 000 and $25 000 in point fund, the series will debut Sunday May 16, at Autodrome Montmagny. Move to Autodrome St-Felicien for May 23. Back to Montmagny on May 29. Down to Ottawa on June 12. We will keep you posted as dates get firmed up.

Three Quebec LMS events are also ACT Havoline Late Model Series Championship races, St-Felicien (July 24 and 25) and Montmagny (August 29). Quebec veterant André Beaudoin heads the list of drivers committed to the Quebec LMS Series Championship. He is joined by Alexandre Gingras, Jean-Yves Boudreault, Carl Allard and Renaud Blais.

Canadian Stock Car legend Jean-Paul Cabana, has been named by ACT as the Quebec Series tour Supervisor. Finally, it should be noted that the double header weekend at St-Felicien (July 24 and 25) will consist of two 100 lap events with a combined purse of $35 000 and $2300 to win each segment.

(details) American Canadian Tour Officials today announced that veterant drivers Brent Dragon and Gary Caron plan to compete on the 1999 schedule.

Meanwhile 1998 Thunder Road Rookie of the Year award winner, Billy Herring, will be back behind the wheel of Ellery Packard's racecar for the Thunder Road Championship. In addition Herring who won his first event last year will participate in the Great Remington Shootout, a $5,000 to win special event, and plans on competing in all ACT/Havoline Tour events.

A group of Quebec region associates, headed by Jean-Guy Grenier and Richard Cliche provided details on their newly formed 13 race Championship to be disputed at 3 tracks (Circuit Ste-Croix, Autodrome Chicoutimi et Autodrome St-Eustache).

The Championship titled PROLAB Super Series will be sanctionned by CASCAR of Ontario (Canada). One must note that CASCAR will sanction 3 different Championships in the Province of Quebec this season: the regional series CASCAR CARQUEST (8 races for 100% CASCAR legal race cars); the PROLAB-PRO-ONE Series (13 races held at Autodrome St-Eustache; local rules) and the PROLAB Super Series.

The cars participating in the PROLAB Super Series Championship are in fact the same race cars that ran at Autodrome Montmagny and Chicoutimi in 1998. These cars will undergo minor changes such as adopting slick tires and changing weight distribution.

The team at the helm of this new group have set the expectations very high. First announcing the formation of a committee consisting in Mr Grenier, President for PROLAB; Mr Cliche VP & GM; Mr Larry Patry, owner of Autodrome Chicoutimi; Mr Denis Lachance, owner of Circuit Ste-Croix; Mr Tony Novotny, President of CASCAR and one driver representative to be elected by his fellow racers. Additionaly the first 20 drivers to register for the Championship will receive a $ 3,000 sponsorship. To top this off, 10 of 13 events on the schedule will be broadcasted primetime on RDS (a Quebec cable-network sports show).

Drivers Yvon Bédard, Daniel Guay, Christian Beaulieu, Etienne Boudreault, Carl Patry, René Blanchet, Jacques Poulin, Louis Vachon, Donald Theetge have confirmed their participation.

The North East Pro Stock Association schedule has been revised - with 9 confirmed races for the 1999 season and 3 possible additions.

There are 21 "franchise" drivers (one Quebec driver - André Sylvain) that have paid their 1999 association fees.
