CONTRACTING: ALL jobs require that a small sample be submitted via direct email or via fax before work is begun. ALL jobs 1,000 words (four pages) and over require that the translator and client sign a short letter of agreement. This is meant to protect both the client and the translator. The letter of agreement shall outline estimated word count in the original or target language, date/time of delivery, method of delivery, deadline, rate, discounts (if applicable), estimated total amount due, method of payment, and date upon which payment shall be made. (For smaller jobs, e-mail correspondence shall serve as sufficient written documentation in lieu of the letter of agreement.) For very large projects requiring a longer-term commitment for both the translator and the client, it will be necessary for the client to pay an initial good-faith deposit as well as an installment on each batch of work as the project progresses. A retainer agreement may also be necessary, depending on the nature of the work to be done. REFERRALS: Maloof Language Services, Inc. is NOT an agency and does not subcontract or "farm out" projects. Instead, it refers projects to a private, hand-picked contacts network of specialized professional translators with proven track records in excellence and reliability. These referrals are complimentary to any company or individual with a project that must be placed with a translator or team of translators. BILLING: For translations, billing shall be based on actual word count in the target language (English) unless agreed otherwise. For proofreading, editing, interpreting, and consulting services, billing is usually based on an hourly rate. The total balance shall be due in full upon receipt of the finished document(s) unless agreed otherwise. An invoice is sent to the client immediately after each project is completed. Any balance which remains outstanding after thirty (30) days shall incur a late charge of 1.5 percent per month until the balance is paid in full. PAYMENT: Checks, money orders, postal orders, purchase orders, Western Union, and bank drafts are all accepted. Credit card payments are accepted through PayPal (see below). Cash is also accepted if client is located in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Bank drafts require a minimum of USD$150.00. If under $150.00, a $12.50 fee shall be added to the total amount due in order to cover bank charge for receiving draft. PayPal is a secure online payment system that you can use to send payments by charging them to your credit card (MasterCard/Visa), debit card, or directly to your bank account. It is much faster, safer and easier than mailing a check, and far less expensive and bothersome than wire transfers or bank drafts. You do not have to be registered with PayPal to send a credit card or debit card payment via PayPal's secure server system. PayPal has received positive reviews from Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, CNet, and Time. It is being applauded by both clients and translators all over the United States and all over the world. PayPal accounts are available in 26 countries as of January 2001. 
Payments in all cases should be made to Maloof Language Services, Inc., and shall be in United States dollars unless an alternate arrangement is agreed upon between the client and the translator. CONFIDENTIALITY: All work performed for all clients is automatically assumed to be confidential and will always be treated as such, with no exceptions whatsoever. REFUNDS: Absolutely, positively 100 percent satisfaction guaranteed. As a language services professional and the owner of a language services business, I take pride in my work and stand by it.
