The earthworks of the Iron Age hillfort appear with great clarity on a KVR-1000 image.

The Iron Age hillfort at Figsbury Ring (51.15N 1.73W) stands on the Western end of a spur of chalk downland to the East of Salisbury, Wilshire. The outer bank and ditch enclose a nearly circular area of 6 hectares. Some way within the enclosure there is a second ditch that may have been dug to provide more chalk for the main bank.

A KVR-1000 image of Figsbury Ring, acquired in Jun 93, shows the earthworks in relief with great clarity and is comparable with an orthodox medium scale aerial photograph.

Compare this image with a low resolution LANDSAT TM image of the environs of the hillfort.
