During 1999 I have written this new book which accompanies a television series produced by Ed Skelding and Tyne Tees Television. The programmes were first broadcast during the October - December period 1999, in six episodes.
Ed Skelding is responsible for a sequence of wonderful photographs which are an integral part of this innovative text. Many are in full colour. The book is printed on high quality paper. It can be read in many different ways since the text is divided into maps, picture/photograph captions and a running commentary. The book, as its title implies, deals with three of the Great Battles of the Great War; Gallipoli, The Somme (1916) and Passchendaele.
What people have said of this book:
"The captions to the photographs are almost a book in themselves. Indeed, I would suggest that readers work through the book as I did, reading only the text of each chapter before returning to the beginning and reading the captions to the pictures. It's rather like getting a general idea of what happened in a battlefield, before actually visiting it. This is a beautifully put-together book with excellent content and well worth the cover price of £16.95."
