Despite the evening haze, you can still make out the lifting bridge over on the south bank of the Elbe at Cranz. There is a regular ferry that drones back and forth between Blankenese and Cranz - you get to recognise the sound of its engine!

It is worth a trip, especially if you take your bicycle in the spring, when the fruit blossoms are at their best - but don't let the bird-scarers scare you - they go off with quite a bang! The ships wash on the river is from the ship in the previous picture.
