MERLIN CARPENTER TRASH

My name is Katy. I work at Christie's in New York.

I was turned on to your work by Gareth James over at Columbia
University. I became a little obsessed. In any case, I started talking
about your Krebber essay non-stop with friends and turns out I used to
work for a fan of yours, Chris Wool. Long story short, I am in a
position here to help organize exhibitions in various ways, which I can
explain later. Obviously, Christie's is connected to everything
art-world related, from collectors to curators.

Can I come visit your studio at some point? Will you be in Basel,
Venice or Documenta?

I work my ass off for artists whose work I believe in -- it just doesn't
feel like work at all. Also, I have a lot of good-looking friends.

Best,
Katy $$$$$$$$

Merlin,

I hope you're well. I wrote you before from my email address at Christie's.
My name is Katy $$$$$$$$. I want to do a studio visit with you. How can we
arrange this? I am so fucking sick of your shit, you're forcing me to drop
names -- any one of my fancy artist friends will tell you that I'm also not
totally awful company. I used to work with some well-known artists at
Luhring Augustine gallery. Apparently Wool is a fan of yours, in addition
to Gareth James and myself. Their opinions count more and always will.

I work at Christie's now, but don't hold it against me. There are many more
things to hold against me, like my penchant for reality television and
obsession with Kim il-Sung and Kim Jong-il. Write me back here.

I was in Basel at the fair until yesterday. I had to leave early because
that place is like watching your parents have sex. And not in a good way.

Who knows - you may have written me back already at Christie's. I'm just
planning to head over to Europe mid July and hope you'll be around so I can
meet you - anywhere is fine.

XX,
Katy

PS -- I'm also not fat so please write back before that changes.

You know, really, we're living in a world of surge.

``Prices build on prices,'' said Pilar Ordovas, Christie's head of contemporary art in London. ``It requires a number of quality works to appear on the market to generate momentum."

According to ArtTactic, more than 60 percent of lots at Christie's day auctions of contemporary art in New York in May failed to achieve their low estimates or were left unsold.

The auctions followed separate reports from research company ArtTactic Ltd. and insurance group Hiscox Ltd. that said demand for cheaper items is suffering even as billionaires are spending.

What the court didn't hear
There are two curious sub-plots to the Mosley privacy case, neither aired in court. Before the 'News of the World' story was published, Mr Mosley says he was warned by two sources that his private life was being investigated by "a group specialising in such things, for reasons and clients as yet unknown". The implication was that this was being done by rivals in the world of motorsport. Was there any link between these investigations and the 'News of the World' story? Second, there is something that came to light during inquiries by Quest former Met Police chief Lord Stevens's security firm which had been asked by the FIA, the organisation Mr Mosley heads, to investigate. After it tailed the husband of one of the women hired by Mr Mosley for his S&M sessions, it found he was an MI5 officer. MI5 learnt of his connection to prostitution and he was forced to resign. It was allegedly his wife who filmed Mr Mosley's "orgy" for the newspaper.

Fewer children might be run over: Some, but not all, surveys have shown that, presumably because of poorer visibility to the rear, SUVs and pickups are more likely to be involved in what are called driveway "backover" accidents, most victims of which are children. In one study, backovers were fatal most often when the vehicle was a pickup truck.

``This is a very serious financial crisis and it is the most serious financial crisis of our lifetime,'' Soros told Reuters in a telephone interview. ``It is an idle dream to think that you could have this kind of crisis without the real economy being affected.'' As he was winding down his days of dissoluteness and reprobation, the 4th century Christian philosopher Augustine of Hippo, commonly referred to as St Augustine, begged for just a few more rounds of divinely sanctioned debauchery. "Lord," he cried out to the heavens, "Give me chastity and continence, but not quite yet."

Under capitalism, dead, fossilized labor, in the form of accumulated surplus wealth, dominates living labor. This is personified in the rule of the rich over the poor. But even within the dead labor, the deader, purer wealth dominates the portion of dead labor that takes on life again in the soil, as it were, by being reapplied through living labor in the productive and reproductive process.

Overall, the Baker Institute/Council on Foreign Relationsreport emphasized, the stakes were exceedingly high, since there was a danger that oil price increases and supply shortages would make "the United States appear more similar to a poor developing country." Between the army and the prison system, official joblessness is reduced by perhaps 2 percent.

A year on and the market for CMBS looks worse than chastened. The amount issued in the first five months of this year fell 89% to $10.8bn, the lowest level since the late 1990s Sales of office property in the US fell 81% in the first four months of the year.
