Gaming Guides Introduction to TINYPLOTS: Location |
|||
|
MAIL ORDER SAM ONLINE TINYGAMES SCENARIOS Spoofing is most often used to describe scenes and give the dialogue of 'extras' (guards, droids, rebel leaders, etc) |
THEY say that
location is everything... and that's true to
some extent. For the most inexperienced roleplayers,
playing a game in a well designed location can work
wonders. You don't have to tell them that they're in the
mountains (though it might be nice to warn them that
there's something nasty lurking up ahead), and you don't
have to tell them the details about the bar and what the
waitress looks like (these are very important to some
folks). However, location can hamper roleplaying as well,
and the trick is to know when to use it and when to go
with a blank room. Blank rooms are used when the adventure moves to many locations. Single, described rooms are used when the adventure takes place in only one or two locations. NEVER run a roleplaying scenario in a public place (like the West Corner of the Park). You'll be sneered at (if not spammed) and in some cases, wizards were called in when players thought the pretended argument/fight was real. Run your games in areas you've designed for it -- and areas that do NOT show up on the public WA list. Otherwise you'll have a bunch of literary critics and onlookers show up -- and they won't be a terribly appreciative audience. |
