Week 6 - 2nd May '98
"Go to Greece on holiday in
1998?"
25th September 1997. 10.02.00GMT. 51N34. 00W08.

Background
A Greek friend of mine had invited me to the island of Samos in Greece for the Summer
holidays in 1998. I had already been there on holiday and liked it and looked forward to
returning again. The problem was the dates in 98. I would be attending UAC98
in May. Since the dates for the holiday were not yet finalised I asked this question to
get some idea of whether it would be feasible or not.
Significators
Mars ruling Scorpio on the ascendant for me as querent and the Moon ruling Cancer on
the cusp of the 9th house for Greece.
Judgement
The Moon is applying to Mars by trine, at first sight this looks positive. The Moon is
separating by sextile to Mercury, trine to Venus and square to Saturn. It is translating
each of these planets to Mars. At the same time the Sun is involved in translations with
Mars. It separates from Mars by sextile, from Neptune by trine and applies by trine to
Jupiter. When a significator is caught up in more than one translation of light it can
cause problems and if the conditions are not right it will produce negative answers.
In my experience, if the fastest moving translating planet, usually the Moon, does not
aspect all of the planets in the other translations, "no" answers occur on a
regular basis.
If the fastest moving translating planet aspects all of the planets in the other
translations then things run smoothly and "yes" answers occur.
In this horary, the Moon being the fastest translating planet does not aspect Jupiter
which is linked to the translation involving the Sun. When the Moon cannot aspect one or
more planets in the other translation by either separating or applying aspects, the answer
will be "no".
Conclusion
I will not be able to go to Greece for a holiday in 1998.
Result
A friend in Vancouver set up a number of dates for me to give workshops in the USA and
Canada directly after UAC98. In all I would be touring for 6 weeks and would not
return to London until the end of June, too late to go to Samos. The holiday had been set
for June. I told my friend that I would not be able to make it after all.
