Downloading the Offline Version
of the Coral Disease Page

Thank you for your interest in the Offline Version of the Coral Disease Page©. We have updated the stand-alone version of this page which can be run without web access, for use as a field research tool. You will need a computer (presumably a portable) with a web browser. However, all of the links to other web sites have been disabled or eliminated in the offline version.

We have taken an approach here that is similar to downloading "patches" from software vendors. About two-thirds of the files in the original offline version did not get updated. Therefore, if you have already downloaded the original zip file, then you do not need to download it again. Instead, you can simply download the updated zip file with only the newer files.

Instructions

Please read the following instructions before you begin your download, or better still, print this page and save it.

1. Decide which files you need to download. If you already have the original version of the offline version, then just download the updated file. Otherwise, download both files.



2. Both files are in the zip format. You will need a compression utility such as PkUnzip or WinZip to open them.



3. Once downloaded, move both files to a separate directory on your hard drive. If you are just downloading the update, then move it to the existing directory for the earlier offline version of the Coral Disease Page.



4. If you need both files, then unzip the offline file first, followed by the update file.



5. Some html files in the original zip file will need to be overwritten by their newer versions. Therefore, when you unzip the update file, answer "Yes" when your software asks you if it should overwrite the older version of a file. This is why it is important to unzip the files in the order described above. If you unzip the files in the wrong order, the only option is to delete all the html and jpg files and start over.



6. Once everything is unzipped, open your browser and use the "Open File" command to open the first file in the directory, called aaastart.htm

As with the earlier version, there is no registration process or fee needed to use the offline version of the Coral Disease Page. However, if you send us an e-mail message, we will add your name to the mailing list for information about future updates.
