Welcome to the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
homepage. We are located half-way between San Francisco and
Los Angeles, along the beautiful central coast of California.
St. Stephen's was founded in 1867 as the first organized
Protestant Church in San Luis Obispo county. The original church, locally known as a
"Carpenter Gothic" gem, was built of Monterey Pine
beams from Cambria, California and covered with redwood on a site
which cost ten dollars. The rich hues of our memorial stained glass windows reflect
both a pioneer heritage and a radiant future. The building today still retains the
lines and flavor of the original structure.

St. Stephen's Mission Statement
St. Stephen's Episcopal Church
welcomes all people to an open, caring, Christian community that
proclaims the Good News of God in Jesus Christ by word and
example. We seek to nurture our growth and maturity in Christ
through worship, study, pastoral care and fellowship. We are sent
into the world to restore all people to unity with God and each
other.
