If you would like me to find a marriage for you that is NOT one of the lines covered on this website, I will try to find it for you for a fee. The reason for the fee is that I will make a special trip to a genealogy library to try to find the information for you, and I don't expect anyone else to request the same information.
This service is for marriages of couples who have French surnames or were Catholic and married in Canada. The reason for this is that these are the marriages covered in the sources available to me.
Please specify the names of both spouses, an approximate date (this is really important, or you may get information on a couple with the correct names, but too early or late to be your missing link), and an approximate place (e.g. Quebec, New Brunswick, Maine, Louisiana). The more information you can give me, the more likely it is that I will find your couple.
Be aware that the chances of my finding your relative's marriage are excellent if it took place in Quebec or Louisiana, good if it took place in Maine or Massachusetts, fair if it happened in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or New Hampshire, and poor if it happened elsewhere.
Specify how many generations you want me to go. One generation means that I will find this marriage, give you the date and place and parents listed at the marriage, and quit. Two generations means that I'll find the marriages of the parents as well. You may specify that you want to follow the groom's surname only, in which case 5 generations would be only 5 marriages.
The cost is $12 (US) per marriage request. Each marriage of the parents of this couple (and their parents, and so on) is $8. If you wish to be notified if any of the participants in these marriages had another marriage, these will be included for an additional $5 (US) each. If you'd like birth dates (baptisms count as birth dates), or burial dates, those would be $2 each, but it's hard to find birth and death information after about 1780, except in Louisiana.
To submit a query, you'll need to send a check or money order for the number of marriages requested. Specify whether you want any additional information. If I find additional marriages, births, or burials, I'll send a bill for any additional payment required. If I can't find any of the requested marriages, I'll refund the amount for each unfound marriage.
The easiest way to request a search is to print out the Search Request Form. If for some reason you are unable to do that, you may just describe what you want me to do, as explained below.
A sample request would be:
I'm looking for the marriage of Jean-Baptiste Talbot to Genevieve Poitras in the L'Islet area (?) around 1900-1910. Please look for marriages for 3 generations. I don't want births or burials, but let me know if any of these people had previous or later marriages. I'm enclosing $60 for 3 generations = 1 marriages at $12 and 6 marriages at $8.Send your request to:
