There were Babin ancestors both in Québec and in Acadia. Since my branch is Acadian, that is the one I have most information on, but I do enter any information on French-Canadian Babins that I can find.

The first Acadian Babin was Antoine, who was born in France around 1630, and married around 1661 to Marie Mercier. At present, nothing is known of Antoine's parents. Marie Mercier was the daughter of Françoise Gaudet.

  The descendancies on this site can be searched using your browser. Look first for the non-Babin half of any married couple. You'll find dozens of Emilie Babins, but only one Louis Brinck, so it will speed your search to look for the most distinct name first. If that doesn't work, look for the mother of the person in question, if you know her name. Don't forget that people with more than one name might be listed under any variation. I have tried to list everyone under the baptismal name if known, but it isn't always known. Joseph-Marcel-Antoine-Elzear Babin may be known in your family as Marcel. So if you don't find him uner Marcel Babin, you may have to just search for Marcel, and look for all the people who have that name amongst all the others.

  The Antoine Babin Genealogy includes all descendants of Antoine, including Cajuns, but not including Gaspésian decendants of Ambroise. Size: about 204K, 3214 people. Last update: Feb 20, 1999. Cajuns are now fully covered up to about 1899, with a few more recent marriages.

  Ambroise, the son of Pierre, the son of Charles, son of Antoine, escaped to the Gaspé during the Dispersion, and settled in Bonaventure. His descendants have their own page. WARNING! For those who are curious about where I fit into this family, my father was Bertrand Babbin, and I was born Linda Joyce Babbin.

  I will attempt to answer any questions about any person named Babin or the spouse of any Babin. In return, I hope you'll tell me about any Babins I may not know about. I do already have information on most Babins born in Acadia or the Gaspé, so if your family is from somewhere else, please feel free to add your names to our collection, and don't hesitate to ask a question even on other areas, because I do have a bunch of Babins elsewhere--the data is just not so complete.
