Go On, Fill In A Wee Form And Say HALLO.

I am a wee broon stuffed lion, the first on that web thing, and SOFT TOY LION is my name. I'm unique, so there...GROWL. I live in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. [I've got to mention Edinburgh and Scotland a lot so that Internet search engines might find my pages.] If you can see a picture at the top of this page then you are looking at a photo of Edinburgh Castle. If not, what's wrong with you? It wouldn't take long to load. GROWL. Admittedly it's not the clearest picture you ever did see but that's what happens when you use new technology instead of good old chemical photography. Also it was taken at night, as you might have noticed.

Talking of pictures, I would like to show you a picture of myself. Most of my friends are stuffed toys too and we all find it difficult to understand cameras. Actually we find it difficult to understand quite a lot of things. That's the trouble with having fluff for brains.

Portrait of the Great One

Never mind, one of the humans I live with has been busy with his camera so guess who that is above. What do you mean, 'All lions look the same to me'? PAH, SOFT TOY LION is unique, so study my portrait (for it is a picture of the Great One) carefully since if you are ever lucky enough to meet me you'd be well advised to show respect. PUFF!

Stuffed toys worldwide are creating bonds of friendship across the oceans so what's wrong with the humans? Answer that and stay fashionable. GROWL! While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say a big hello to my friends, whether stuffed or not, all over the world...

HALLO!

"What is a wee broon stuffed lion interested in then (apart from, obviously, wildebeest and suchlike, but of course in a fairly theoretical manner)?", I hear you ask. You don't think you're asking this? PAH, I hear it anyway. Yes, that's right, I'm just one crAAAAzy lion. Well, I like my city, Edinburgh, my little concrete jungle. GROWL. I've started to put a bit about it on these pages -- and stuff about Scotland generally. I've included LINKS to other sites in Edinburgh for more comprehensive information about the city while I get this site sorted out. Phew, "comprehensive" is a big word for a stuffed lion. Let's face it, it's a big word anyway. GROWL. So what is on THESE pages? True to my mercurial (ooh) nature, lots of different things that interest me and my fluffy friends. I'm a lazy wee lion so it will be a while before this web site is complete, ... years probably, ... the Web will be dead, ... blah, blah, but I'll add to it whenever I can't find anything interesting to do. Look out, too, for guest contributions from other stuffed toys. The stuffed ones are making a stand for equal rights with techno-nerds on the World Wide Web!

I can be a serious wee broon stuffed SCOTTISH lion when I sober up. Try my 'LION RAMPANT' pages about Scotland's culture and heritage. I know what you're thinking. "Is it seemly to talk about a 'Lion Rampant'?" Get your mind out of the gutter. GROWL. The flag of the monarch of Scotland depicts a 'lion rampant'. That's a heraldic expression that, er, heraldic types use. 'Lion Rampant' is clarity itself compared with some of the stuff they come out with.

Encouraged by enquiries, I'm in the process of putting up a major amount of info about the Paisley weaver poet, Robert Tannahill (1774-1810). Start here: 'Life Of Robert Tannahill' by David Semple (written for 1875 edition of Tannahill's 'Poems and Songs') [100k]

Do you like France? SOFT TOY LION does. Scotland (and Edinburgh) has had a long connection with France. Academic types say that the first formal alliance between the two countries was signed in 1295 (the "Auld Alliance") but the links are even older. I celebrate the "Auld Alliance", with this Francophile link.

SOFT TOY LION has spent years in Edinburgh, or perhaps it just seems like years, but, anyway, he knows the place like the back of his paw. Try this link for More About Edinburgh.

Enter the cuddly toy universe for a little while. FLUFFY.Try it, you'll love it.

So You've Had A Look At My Pages, Now Talk

If you are a stuffed toy, or you know a stuffed toy, why not write to SOFT TOY LION? If you just want to know more about Edinburgh and Scotland and have not found the information you want here or elsewhere why not write to him and ask about that? He's a very helpful lion and will subject your enquiry to the full rigour of his fluffy brain.
