Welcome to the CZ Roadster Restoration Project!

1974 175cc CZ model 477 Roadster.

A while back I received an e-mail via a motorcycle related mailing list I'm on that was offering this bike, free to anybody who wanted to come and get it. It had been parked behind someone’s garage for many years and hadn’t been started in about ten. Being a sucker for anything with two wheels, especially if it’s free I jumped at the chance. When I got to the house and saw the bike I was pleasantly surprised by its condition. It had been sitting outside, just a couple of miles from the Pacific Ocean and I expected it to have a lot more rust. Plus the bike is 100 percent complete! So, the project begins...

This is my first CZ project and I know next to nothing about the marque, any information is welcome. If you had, or have one I'd love to hear your thoughts on the machine. If you know of any magazine tests on this model, or books about them I'd like to know about that too. I need to find a parts source hopefully in Southern California. As I work on the bike I'll post pictures of what I find so if your interested, check back once in a while.

I need a set of forks!

OK, I know somewhere out there is a set of forks that need a good home. I have found a set for over $200 but I just cant justify that kind of price. Its probably more than the whole bike is worth. So, anybody have some forks? A complete set would be nice but I really only have to replace the stanchion tubes. If you have a set, or know where I can find them please, please, drop me an e-mail. The project is on hold until I find these. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your time and I appreciate any help.

The speedometer reads in miles per hour so I expect its a US model. Its only got 7242 miles on the clock!
