FACT and FICTION! They will go limp when picked up but how long they stay that way depends on the cat in question. As with all cats they EACH have their own personalities. Some like to be held, some don't. With some cats each day is a different situation. That ball of fur that couldn't leave you alone yesterday, today needs space and can't be bothered with more than the occasional pat. Ragdolls do not just hang there boneless for as long as you hold them up. When they get tired of being held or dangled they'll let you know,
FICTION Ragdoll's feel pain just as any other feline does. However, the docile nature of the Ragdoll may keep them from expressing it to the degree another cat might. Ragdolls need the same tender loving care that all cats rely on from their friends and companions. They need protection from the tough cruel world outside their homes. Ragdoll's should be housed as inside-only members of the family. Their curiosity often puts them in situations that can be potentially harmful, like walking right up to that unknown dog to see what it is!
Ragdoll Cats aren't like most other cats in that they really are not aloof. They like to be with their people. Often people owned by Ragdolls report that they have very little privacy since their cat(s) follow them everywhere. I often feel like the head of a parade since I rarely get to go anywhere without a "train" of cats and kittens. And I do mean ANYWHERE. Even the bathroom isn't off limits to this chummy behaviour. They may not always be on your lap but they'll never be far away! Also, finicky isn't in their vocabulary. Dinner's always good, whatever it is.
