Medal issue records at the PRO
Medal collectors find these records very useful when researching medals, but given that most men who enlisted recieved a medal you can therefore start to peice some of their service together especially with the amount of loss of the service records. These rolls are helpfull for people looking up what great uncle Fred did in the war, if they know his name and regiment they have a fair chance of finding a bit about him. Those people who are reseaching the constituents of certain units, ie the original members of the RND can be accertained by the 14 star roll. The list is endless, don't ignore them as a research tool.
I often get people now asking me to find lost relatives who served, I
now can no longer undertake enquiries although I can give advise, but I have
left an e.mail link to a researcher who could do the business for you quickly
and
reasonably!!!
