WHERE CAN YOU BUY MEDALS
The fact that medals can be bought on the open market is something which offends many, also medal collectors get a great deal of stick- blamed for everything except the dissappearance of Lord Lucan!!. My defence is, I was interested in the Great War for many years before I picked up my first medal. I used to see them in the window and bought my first one because I felt sorry for it, the rest came as a manifestation of my WW1 interest, as do my historical articles etc. The research is fun and the important bit, and believe me the medals are given a loving and respectful home. Medals on the market got there somehow, recipients died and no one wanted them, in my family, they were sold off by someone who thought of the money first, and this is a greater cause of the medals being on the market. My last defence is that a great deal of modern research and books have been done by medal collectors, not to further their collection but usually out of an interest in men and regiments and the conditions served in. The are however some collectors whose attitudeds do cause me concern, but that runs thoughout the whole of society. Below are tis a list of dealers who I use and trust, if you want to but your own peice of history, contact them, please say I sent you and you will recieve a warm welcome:
