In the World Series, East Aurora won the first two games at home, 6-4 and 8-5, and put the
champagne on ice. But the Storm were used to playing from behind. They put on a devastating
display of offense, winning the next 3 games by scores of 14-3, 11-4, and 11-4. In game 6,
the Storm got out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, and held a shaky 4-3 lead throughout. They
pushed over a critical insurance run in the ninth, and Rob Nen closed the door on the Indians.

The Storm, who had never won a playoff series before this season, won three on their way to
their first WNYSOMBL championship. To get there, they had to defeat the 1st, 3rd, and 4th
place teams - an impressive feat. Congratulations to John Brierley and to everyone who made
our 18th season our most exciting season.

The media were out in full force. Video review showed no players in the
crease all afternoon. No runs were called back, and no ineligible players were used.

Dex brought along his collection of Strat-O-Matic baseball, hockey, and
football cards. It was shocking to see pitcher ERAs under 3.00 and
goalie GAAs over 3.00. Oh, for the good old days!
