Well gang, the time has finally come!
For the first time since the close of the season two years ago,
the Squirts
are not seeded in a playoff spot. Amazing as it seems, but so
desperately
true. You know times are tough when Idlewoods and Bronx win more
series
than the reigning champs.
THE MID SEASON REPORT CARD.......
Hitting D-
Watching my team batting average drop to a lowly .252 is
heart breaking.
I have only 5 players above .300 and 3 of them are part time
players
Mariano Duncan (.486) leading the pack.
Fielding D+
Error to game played ratio just under 1 to 1, with 37,
this has to be an
all time high for a Jerry coached team. Bobby Bonilla leading the
team with
9, and McGwire and Ripken not too far behind with 6 each.
Pitching F---
With no quality starters and relief with few innings
remaining, it's
going to be a long 12 weeks. Randy Johnson leads the team in ERA
with 2.81
but has only 2 starts remaining. John Burkett has been a bright
spot - 3.58 ERA,
but has only 2 victories in 8 starts. Relief corps combined for 5
saves
with 3 coming from a player no longer on the roster (Armondo
Benitez).
Coaching D-
No line-up seems to work, early withdraw of starters for
defense has not
worked. Total of 17 stolen bases and the Sac and Hit and Run
blunders are
adding up.
Maybe retirement sounds good...Ya I can take up hunting or do
whatever Ed does.
Na......you guys are the greatest, even friggen Valari.
