- Viacom assimilates Internet !
Text taken from Klingon Imperial Corps mass E-mail
The Klingon Imperial Diplomatic Corps has instituted a Klingon
Resistance Movement to protest the recent legal actions that Viacom has
taken against several Trek sites on the Internet.
It seems that Viacom wants to assimilate the Internet. This is the only
logical reason that explains Viacom's legal actions against the some
members of the Internet community. Several Trek-related websites have
been already shut down by Viacom (the corporation that owns Paramount)
and, by the looks of it, many more will follow. They seem to be trying
to eliminate (assimilate?) every "unofficial" Star Trek website out
there, so that in the years to come Microsoft Network's "Star Trek:
Continuum" will be the only Trek site available on the Net.
If you feel as we do, that this is totally unacceptable, join the
Klingon Resistance Movement and voice your opinion against
Viacom/Paramount's legal actions. We must make a concerted effort to
make Viacom realize that what they are doing is comparable to shooting
themselves in the foot; fan-run Trek sites only help promote the
"franchise" and are not meant as the "copyright enfringements" as Viacom
interprets them to be.
Please visit the
Klingon Resistance Movement
for more details on how
to join this glorious battle. Remember, this time resistance *will not*
be futile!!
