Atari Jaguar
The Atari Jaguar was the first 64-bit video game system, despite claims from Nintendo that the N64 is. While the N64 has faster processing power than the Jaguar, the Jaguar still has many features the N64 doesn't. The Jaguar has both CD and cartridge media. The CD player has a virtual light machine for audio CD's. This is basically what it sounds like it is, a light machine. It has 81 different effects, and the light patterns correpond directly to the type of music being played. It also has an 18 button control pad, no other system can come close to that. It is capable of displaying 1300+ pixels per line compared to N64's 640 pixels per line. It can be hooked up via modem to play specially designed games over the phone lines. A virtual reality head set with head tracking was being designed, but when Atari merged with JTS all plans for it fell through. Multiple Jaguars can be networked together to play games like Doom, Air Cars, and the upcoming Battle Sphere against others.
