Bad Luck - It happens to everybody

Bad Games
It can be a soul destroying feeling to have a bad game, the proverbial "nightmare", where nothing goes right and everyone else seems to be getting the good luck. Picture of a "bad game"

It is natural, though, to notice other people's good luck and your own bad luck They will do likewise, though, because everyone has a bad game and, admit it, you've had a few lucky strikes in your time too, yes?

  • Look at this picture above, taken during the FIQ World Championships (1999, Abu Dhabi). Tore Torgersson maintained the highest average of any man in the world and was leading the "Masters" event when, slap me with a wet fish, look what happenned - a bad game!
  • Or this one, defending Mens Doubles champions Tomas Leandersson and Raymond Jansson (Sweden) - who will go on to beat all other teams and take gold in the fives - hit four splits in one game.
Everyone has good luck, we only notice our own bad luckIf it can happen to the best in the world it can happen to anybody: the test of character is how you react to it when it happens to you, as it will. Will you give up and quit, or dig in, use your mental skills and support from your team to pull it back?

Experience helps. Reflecting on and learning from previous bad games helps, too - you can develop thought stopping techniques and positive affirmations to cope. A knowledge of Lane Play and Spare systems is essential. But, really, it all comes down to character: don't be a quitter and after it's over, if you done your best you shouldn't feel bad.

So you don't think I'm only showing you their bad games, look at more pictures of these bowlers
Summary

Remember that everyone has a bad game. Relax, stop the negative thoughts and replace them with positive affirmations. Don't give up and be there - for the Team.
