Before doing any
work with a member of the National Teams we capture their style
on video. This has three benefits:
We have a snapshot record of the players style at that
point in time
The athlete gets to see for themselves how they bowl and
watch the video in the comfort of their own home
The coaches can analyse the athlete's technique in great
detail, e.g. using slow motion, to create a development
plan specifically targetted at what that player needs to
work on
If you have comments or ideas please email
me. Other video clips are also available
as well as pictures of the current Mens
& Ladies squads.

As part of an
analysis, before we work with a squad member, we study their;
Without worrying about how you get to the line
we will first look at what your ball really does.
Does your ball go too fast, too slow? Do you get enough
revolutions on the ball to match your ball speed? Do you
have too much axis tilt? We measure these numbers and
then study your technique to see how the ball motion is
created and what changes we can make to your style to get
better ball action.
This is where it all comes together. Again
we work backwards, first watching the ball then studying
your finishing position. After all there is no point
worrying about a strange pushaway if you achieve good
balance and leverage in the finish and your ball screems
into the pocket.
A good swing is essential and can affect your
accuracy and consistency. We will check if your
swing has directional problems and if it is anyway
restricted by the body.
We will now look in detail at your timing from
start to finish. Having measured exactly what
your ball is doing and analysed both your Finishing
position and Swing you'll see how much your timing can
affect both the swing and finish. You'll see exactly
where any problems occur and find out what best to work
to make improvements to your whole game.
See also how we make measurements concerning timing.
The release happens so quick it's hard to see
what's going on. Your mind is a powerful
influence here, too: you can think you are doing one
thing but the video will show what actually happens. We
can study your wrist, fingers and the exit of the thumb.
