Karla Huebner’s Feminist Art History Bibliography:
Surrealists

I’M PARTICULARLY FOND of the women artists associated with early Surrealism, and spent a lot of time digging up references to Leonor Fini and Toyen. (I’ve pruned away most of the briefer and more obscure entries relating to them, though some of these may still seem sufficiently brief or obscure.) In addition to sections on Fini and Toyen, I’ve separated out works on Leonora Carrington, Frida Kahlo, and Dorothea Tanning. Rest assured that there are many more books and articles on these artists than I list here, and that in general the women associated with Surrealism make for fascinating reading.
