2nd Bishops Waltham Guides Camps and events One of our young leaders, Timone went to the recent World Jamboree in Chile. She had a great time and says "HI!" to everyone she met!
Last summer we went to Cricket Camp, a great dedicated scouting and guiding site by the River Hamble here in Hampshire. We did a range of activities, like hiking, canoeing, archery, climbing and abseiling, backwoods cooking and singing silly/action songs round the campfire. We would like to say Hi! to the Bedhampton Cubs who we met on the camp. We had a great time at Cricket Camp - we recommend it highly for their excellent activities. Last year our 4 patrol leaders and patrols practiced for their Patrol Camp Permit at Sandy Acres, a Guide's camping site in nearby Shedfield. The weather was very hot and we ended up having water fights to cool us down! Two of the Patrol leaders went on to passing their Permit at Wood End, a campsite in nearby Bere Forest. It was great fun, even though it was very cold and wet! Talk about one extreme to the other! A more or out of the way activity was our visit to the Body Shop headquarters and factory in Littlehampton, West Sussex. A fun day out with lots to see and learn. On the 26 March four of our Guides proudly received their Baden Powell awards . Three of them now leave the unit to concentrate on Rangers and Duke of Edinburgh's activities, while the fourth has chosen to remain as Young Leader. The ceremony was touching and amusing, with a lovely farewell song from all of the Guides in a - not so flattering? - tribute to The Four. |
