Cornish people in Cornish Books v 1

These several books cover various aspects of local history in Cornwall as it affected the lives of the people living there, and refer to local government, life style, living conditions, commerce and mining. Frequent reference is made to those involved in the different activities and these works have been indexed here for the personal names they contain. Seldom is it found that the information given is the traditional birth, death and marriage data sought by the genealogist. Often it may be simply a brief reference to a person's involvement in some undertaking - occasionally a fuller narrative will show something of the way a person led his life.

Whichever it may be, it all helps give a little substance to the lives of our ancestors. With each entry a short reference has been included as a guide to identifying the person or suggesting a family connection. Sometimes this in fact may be all the information available. Where possible a date has been added as well but it is important this should not be taken too literally. Often this has been estimated from other contemporary events and is intended only to help relate people to approximate periods of time.

Also some books have been included which although not strictly "of Cornwall" relate to Cornish people or their descendants and appeared to be appropriate in such an index.
