Hi I'm Richard Powell
I have been in the Scouts for as long as I can remember. I started in 1st Sedgley Cubs, then Scouts and Venture Scouts. During my time in Venture Scouts I moved to Parkfields VSU so I was able to finish my Queens Scout Award and gain my Gold D of E. Now that I have finished in Ventures I am an Assistant Scout leader At 1st Blakenhall Scout Troop.
All of the best opportunities and activities I have had in my life have been afforded to me through being in the Scouts, all of which I have been able to do with my friends. We have been gliding, hiking and under taken many types of sporting activities. Whilst doing a residential service on The Severn Valley Railway we had the chance to become members of The Home Guard, and protect the Railway, during a Forties/War weekend.
At the beginning 1996 I had the chance to be one
of my childhood hero's, I was able to be Indiana Jones in
Firecrackers 3. I would not have had the chance to do any of
these things if it were not for my involvement in the Scouts. To
be able to take part in a World Scout Jamboree will be a
fantastic highlight in my Scouting career, as well as being a
great personal adventure.
