Dance History: The "FREEZE" and its numerous variations and aka aliases
is a dance that crops up frequently all over the world. It seems likely
that the dance is directly descended from the "Electric Slide" but it
appears in many guises including "Bus Stop", "Houston Slide", "Elvira",
"Elvira Freeze", "Elvira Waltz", "Texas Freeze" and "Stage Coach" to
name just a few of its many aka aliases. It's popularity is probably
due to the fact that it's used as a "stock" dance to teach beginner
classes.

Addl Notes: This dance was choreographed specifically to teach dancers
the cha-cha rhythm which breaks on 2, rather than on 1 (as
in Cowboy Cha Cha), hence the name "Fresh Break". Try to
put some Latin movement in this dance by keeping the feet
grounded, so there's some hip action.

Championships held in Kerkrade, Holland. The original step sheet
describes the dance as a "76 Beat 2 Wall Advanced Line Dance for WCS

sections of 80 counts each. Both parts of the dance are comprised of
four sections of 8 counts and four sections of 12 counts. The 12 count
sections are "Repeaters".
