Album M201 - Domaines

Many of the last M201s to be sold off had never been rebuilt and had only a few thousand kilometres on the clock. They had been held in reserve e.g. for Civil Defence. A few adventurous potential owners like Barry England-Davis ventured across the Channel to get themselves an M201. He's almost ready to tow his jeep back to the UK.
Most M201s owned in the UK were brought back from France by dealers. Often these were repaired and resprayed before being sold but others that were in good condition were offered for sale 'as -is'. These jeeps offered an ideal opportunity to study original markings and modifications e.g. the Gendarmerie grenade / tri-colour combination and the relocation of the reflectors to make way for indicator lights.

The final batch of 25 M201s were sold at auction on the 11th July 2002 at Vayres near Bordeaux.  The odd jeep or two turned up in the following months but obtaining an M201 by this method has effectively long since come to an end.
