Game HR3.401, Moderator: Scott Moellmer John Hanna "Gnaarl" in his Lyran White Tiger TCC Purrcy (Email Gnaarl) vs John Woods in his Gorn TCC (Email John Woods) My Lyran TCC defeated John Woods' Gorn TCC on Turn 2, Impulse 16. Turn 1: Gorn moves to take center of board Gorn launches 1 STorp and 1 FTorp on Imp 1.23 Gorn turns away Lyran fires 2 standard disruptors Lyran launches 2 shuttles and turns away Turn 2: Gorn follows torps in Lyran runs out FTorp and finds STorp to be pseudo Gorn launches other STorp Lyran turns into new STorp and finds it to be pseudo as well Gorn launches 2 STorps and other FTorp over 2-3 impulses Lyran fires at flank Gorn shields as Gorn turns away Gorn misplots location of Lyran shuttles Gorn runs over 2 Lyran suicide shuttles using #1 shield Analysis: John Woods had beaten me in HR1 (his Rom TFH over my Ori TBR) by bolting his torps as I came in on an overrun. I wanted some revenge. On turn 1, he moved to take the center of the board. Suspecting that he would try the Anchor/Bolt game, I prepared 2 OL and 2 std disruptors. He launched 20 and 30 point plasma at me on Imp 1.23 and turned away. I fired 2 std disruptors at his #6 shield and also turned away, also toward the same side of the board. I launched both my Suicides on 1.31, knowing I would need the power on turn 2 for tractors. I dumped my OLs on Imp 32, since he was out of range. On turn 2, I plotted just enough movement to run out the 20 pointer and to get the 30 pointer to impact a rear shield, correctly suspecting a pseudo torp. I then raised my ESGs at range 3 to discourage an Anchor. He launched his other 30 pointer as he closed. Suspecting another pseudo, I let it hit my #1 shield. When it turned out to be a pseudo, I let out a sigh of relief, even though the Gorn was currently off my #2 shield at range 6. The Gorn then launched 2 STorps and his remaining FTorp over the next 3 impulses. Knowing these to be real and already being in overload range, I emergency decelled and fired upon the Gorn's flank shield at range 5 with 3 OL disruptors and 5 Ph-1s as he turned away. I scored 2 internals, both hull hits. Next impulse, I fired my remaining std disruptor and my last facing phaser-1, earning 2 power and 2 phaser hits among my 6 internals. The next impulse, the Gorn ran over both my suicide shuttles with his #1 shield, due to his misplotting the shuttles on his mapboard at home. I stopped and dropped my WW with plasmas at range 1 and 2. The Gorn conceded at this point. Being able to keep the Gorn from Anchoring me and being able to Weasel away the Gorn's first plasma load while being able to fire an Alpha Strike definitely put me in good shape for the rest of this game. Then the killing blow came: 2 Suicide Shuttles impacting on the Gorn's #1 shield. With his #1 shield down, he couldn't maneuver; with no plasma, he could not threaten me to prevent me from regaining my speed, rearming my phasers and re-energizing my ESGs for a turn 3/4 attack run.
