Levenshulme

Levenshulme Ward is in South Manchester, along the Stockport Road and taking in part of Burnage. Levenshulme was first won from the Conservatives by Keith Whitmore in 1979, since when it has remained a Liberal Democrat Ward.

As local Councillors, several advice surgeries a month are held, at which all members of the public are welcome.

Keith Whitmore

Keith Whitmore is a former Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group in Manchester. He was first elected to the Council in 1979, when he took Levenshulme Ward. He is Group Spokesperson on City Centre issues, Transport, Policing and Urban and Social Strategy. Keith is also very active on the Local Government Association, where he is currently Chair of the Liberal Democrat Group.

John Commons

John Commons is a Political Consultant to the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, the Right Honourable Alan Beith MP (Berwick Upon Tweed)

  • Represented Levenshulme Ward on Manchester City Council since 1985
  • Radio broadcaster on Irish Current Affairs. Board member of Manchester Irish Radio
  • Keen Manchester United and Republic of Ireland Soccer Fan. Member of the Football Supporters' Association
  • Deputy Leader of the Manchester Liberal Democrat Group.

Maria Rowles

Maria Rowles was first elected to the Council in 1991. Maria has for many years been very active in the Levenshulme area, taking a leading role in many community groups. Maria is the Liberal Democrat Group Spokesperson on Social Services.
