How To Download And Decompress .ZIP Files Attached To Your Email

The WinZip program is updated regularly. Screenshots on this page were taken from version 7 and may differ slightly from the latest version.

Connect to http://www.winzip.com/download.htm to download the WinZip program. Follow the instructions there to install the program on your computer.

Once you have installed the program, click on the WinZip icon on your desktop or click on Start, Programs, WinZip.

The easiest way to use WinZip is to use the 'Wizard.' If you have not setup the program to open with the 'Wizard' then click on the icon at the top of the screen.

Then click on the Next button

The Wizard will list all the .zip files on your computer and you can click on the one you want to unzip

Then click on the Next button. The Wizard will unzip the files into a folder with the name of your zip file inside an unzipped folder on your computer.

Make sure the box next to 'Display file icons after unzipping' is ticked. Then click on the Unzip now button.

WinZip unzips the files and displays their icons in a window on your desktop. Just click on the file icons to see the unzipped files.

Click the Close button to stop using WinZip.
