How to setup Eudora version 4.3.1 to access your Compuserve 2000 mailbox.

The settings are the same as those listed below.

1. Connect to http://www.eudora.com and click on the Download link to save a copy of the program onto your computer.

2. Shut down any other programs that may be running on your computer. Click on the My Computer icon at the top left of your screen and locate the EUDORA431.EXE file that you have just downloaded.

In this example it is in the TEMP folder on the C: drive.

3. Double-click on the icon for the EUDORA431.EXE file and then click on the Yes button.

4. Click on the Next button.

8. Click on the Yes button

9. Click on the Finish button

10. Double-click on the Eudora icon on your desktop to run the program.

11. Decide if you wish Eudora to be your default mail program and click on the Yes or No button accordingly. The default mail program is the program that runs whenever you click on an email link when you are using your web browser at a web page and wish to send an email message. You can change the default mail program at any time.

12. The Eudora program is licensed in three ways. Make a note of how to switch forms of Eudora, then click on the OK button.

13. The new account wizard starts up. Click on the Next button. By the way does anyone else find that postman a bit scarey?

14. Click next to 'Create a brand new e-mail account' and then click on the Next button.

15. Type in your name and click on the Next button.

16. Type in your email address 'username@cs.com' and click on the Next button.

17. Your login name should already be in the box. Click on the Next button.

18. Type in the name of the incoming mail server 'imap.cs.com' and click in the box next to the word IMAP. Click on the Next button.

19. Leave the box blank. Click on the Next button.

20. Type in the name of the outgoing e-mail server 'smtp.cs.com' (BE VERY CAREFUL TO TYPE THIS CORRECTLY. MANY PEOPLE MISTYPE SMTP.) Make sure there is a tick on the box next to 'Allow authentication.' Click on the Next button.

21. Click on the Finish button.

22. Type in the logon password for your Compuserve 2000 account.

IMPORTANT! Before you click on the OK button make sure you are running your Compuserve 2000 program and have made a connection.

Click on the OK button.

23. You will see a message on your screen that the program is downloading folders and you will see them listed under the <Dominant> 'personality' in Eudora.

24. Now you can click on the 'Check Mail' button in the Eudora toolbar to read your Compuserve 2000 email.
