Exhibition
We have just set up a small exhibition so that you will have something to do even on rainy days!
- Description of Glyn-Coch, who we are, what we are doing. History of the farm, pictures from the Woodland Walk and Craft enterprise.
- Was our old cowshed (which now houses our Artist's Studio and Pottery) originally a water mill? A neighbour has suggested that this may have been the case, we review the evidence and display some artefacts which may add weight to his theory.
- Description of Bristol Channel, ships, ports and social and trade links. Affect of the tidal conditions on the development of boat design with reference to Bristol Channel Pilot Cutters, amongst others and the boats and sailors who beat the Spanish Armada. Stories of the White Funnel Fleet Paddle Steamers and the Beachley-Aust Ferries. We are currently adding a file on sites of ecological interest around the Bristol Channel.
- Foot and Mouth: The Ministry of Agriculture (now becomming known as DEFRA) has been criticised over its handling of this terrible disease. On examination much of the criticism turns out to be without foundation. We need better informed journalists and politicians and a serious debate about Agriculture.
- We hope that schools and colleges who visit may wish to produce reports which can be displayed in this area.
- This exhibition space should continuously evolve so that each time you return to Glyn-Coch you should be able to find something new and hopefully interesting - whatever the weather!
