Most pages on the Internet, which are operated by companies, have their entire webs copyrighted. This includes the graphics files contained within these webs. It is usually not a good idea to take graphics files from these sites unless there is a statement contained on the site which allows this. In most independent sites, the work is not copyrighted and the following applies:

In order for any copyright to have effect on an independent work, that work should have either the © symbol or state "copyright" along with the year and name of the person holding copyright. In some instances this may not be so as copyright laws in the United States do not specifically mandate this but a lack of copyright information makes, in most cases, ownership in an electronic media very difficult to claim and/or prove. In the case of computer animation, anyone can put them into a compiler and remove copyright information. It is reasonable to assume, however, that animation compiled with unregistered software, which is not supposed to be used for publishing animations on the World Wide Web and carrying no symbol or other copyright information, is not copyrighted material. I have carefully deleted any animations from my computer which carry any copyright information except for those which carry a "distribute freely" tag in the copyright information, my own animations, and those which the owner of the character or emblem has given permission for recreational, non-profit, use for enhancement of World Wide Web pages. Other than these, there are no animations, to the best of my knowledge, which carry copyright on this site. It is always possible that there may be one or two here which some unscrupulous individual has put through a compiler and removed copyright information. I have, however, made every effort to see that there are no materials which require explicit permission to utilize. For further information on copyright law, please see Title 17 of the United States Code.

If you own copyright to an animation or a photo on this site and wish it to be removed, please inform me and it will be removed immediately. No material may be taken from this site without the express permission of either myself, or the actual copyright holder of the images or text. In the case of photographs, copyright is maintained by the photographer, and use of the scanned photographs on this site is made with his/her permission.
