Individual Study-Analysis Appointments

Individual one-hour appointments will be available before the workshop on Thursday, August 21st. These private appointments may be used to continue a study-analysis and prepare for the workshop. They need to be arranged directly with Dr. Stein by e-mail at htstein@att.net or by phone at (360) 647-5670. The cost of these individual sessions is $130.00/hour. To allow for sufficient preparation and debriefing, an additional hour of study-analysis by telephone should be scheduled for the week before the workshop, and two additional hours of study-analysis by telephone should be scheduled for the week after the workshop.

Instructor: Henry T. Stein, Ph.D.

Dr. Stein is a Classical Adlerian psychotherapist, training analyst, Director of the Alfred Adler Institute of Northwestern Washington, and Co-Director of the Alfred Adler Institute of San Francisco. He studied with Sophia de Vries and Anthony Bruck, who were trained by Alfred Adler. For nearly thirty years, he has been training psychotherapists with an approach based on the original teachings and therapeutic style of Alfred Adler, as well as the clinical and philosophical writings of other Classical Adlerians. His own contributions to Classical Adlerian clinical practice include a comprehensive adaptation of the Socratic method and a thorough exposition of the twelve stages of psychotherapy. He is the editor of the The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler.

Accommodations:

The workshop will be held at the home of Laurie and Henry Stein in Bellingham, Washington, about a twenty-minute drive from the city center. Participants should make their reservations for accommodations as soon as possible. For excellent rooms and full services (restaurant, pool, workout room) call The Lakeway Conference Center at (888) 671-1011; you may visit their web site at http://www.bellingham-hotel.com/ . Because we are no longer holding the workshop at The Lakeway Inn, they will not be offering a "conference rate" on the rooms. However, you can ask them if any other discounts might apply (AAA, senior, etc.) For good, more economical rooms (right across the street from The Lakeway), call The Val-U Inn Motel at (800) 443-7777; you can visit their web site at http://www.bellinghamvaluinn.com/. Both facilities are conveniently located about 15 minutes from Bellingham International Airport, and about 20 minutes from our home. Bellingham RV Park is also conveniently located--check http://www.bellinghamrvpark.com or call (360) 752-1224.

*** Please note that because August is a very active month for local sports events and weddings, hotels, motels, and RV parks tend to get fully booked early in the year. Reservations should be made as soon as possible!

Transportation and Meals:

Although you may request a free shuttle pick-up from your hotel, or hire a taxi, renting a car at the airport (or sharing a rental with another participant) gives the most flexibility. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, participants usually organize car pools to and from our home. However, for individual appointments on Thursday, you will need independent transportation, unless someone agrees to drive you each way. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as part of the tuition fee, we will provide lunch at our home. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know as soon as possible. For dinners, the group meets at various affordable restaurants, where individuals select and pay for their own meals. The group dinner on Thursday, August 21st, offers an opportunity for members to get acquainted and organize car pool plans. Anyone traveling with you is invited to join us for all dinners.

Visiting Bellingham, Washington:

Bellingham is a charming coastal city of modest size, surrounded by abundant natural beauty, offering recreational opportunities, and a variety of cultural events: music, drama, lectures, festivals, and fairs. For a preview of Bellingham's features, visit www.Bellingham.org. We will be glad to offer sight-seeing tips for non-workshop days.

Continuing Education Credit:

For California MFT's and LCSW's, "Experiencing Classical Adlerian Psychotherapy" meets the qualifications for 18 hours of continuing education credit. You may earn an additional hour by engaging in a pre-workshop individual consultation. As required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, Dr. Stein is a Continuing Education Provider (Approval No. PCE 2963) in the State of California.
