Epidemiology is the science concerned with the study of the factors which determine and influence the frequency and distribution of disease in a defined human population for the purpose of establishing programs to prevent and control their development and spread.

This interactive computer-based tutorial program will teach you about:

The aim of this program is to provide the student with the basic understanding of epidemiology necessary to critically appraise the medical literature. This program is intended for use by students and professionals in medicine, nursing and other health sciences.

This program is not designed to focus on biostatistics, which is the application of statistics to medicine. For example, the interpretation of a p-value resulting from a study is covered in this program, whereas the actual calculation of such a p-value is considered beyond the scope of this tutorial.

About the Demonstration Program

This demo is intended to provide the user with a basic understanding of the program's objectives, content and appearance. The actual program is much more indepth. This program demonstration runs on IBM/MS-DOS compatible microcomputers with a VGA graphics card. To run the demo program, unzip it in its own directory and then run EPIDEMO.BAT.
