Chance is a 16.1hh chestnut 7/8 Thoroughbred mare who was born on 23rd March 1985. She is registered with the Hunter Improvement Society as a Grade II mare under the name Dragons Reef. She was bred by Miss Ann Vos of Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Her sire is the HIS Premium stallion Current Magic. She is seen below with her foal, Woodland Sprite, at three hours old, and in the snow (winter 2004)

Woodland Sprite was born on 10 June 1999. She is out of Chance by the Danish-bred Connemara stallion, Hovholmens Golden Flash. She was rather a surprise foal as the vet told us that Chance was not in foal when she scanned her! In spring 1999, Chance started to look very fat, and then to bag up - we soon realised the vet had been wrong! Sprite was backed in the summer of 2002, then turned away for six months. She was brought back into work in Spring 2003 and is hacking quietly alone and in company. She is shown below in March 2004 and January 2004.

Melly (Harford Demelza) is a Welsh Mountain pony we originally had on loan as a companion for Chance, but is now being ridden by our daughter Anna. She was born in 1981, and ordinarily is very quiet, but every so often has a mad spell!

Basil (Big Bad Baz) is a 16.1hh bay Irish Draught cross Thoroughbred gelding, born in the summer of 1988. His sire was the Thoroughbred stallion Twiberry. Like many ID crosses he is a late maturer and has grown nearly two inches since we bought him as a five year old. He is a kind, comfortable but lazy ride. He has competed successfully in riding club showjumping, dressage and combined training.

Duffy is a 15.2hh bay cob-type gelding of unknown breeding. We think he was born in 1982. He has been successful in a range of riding club activities, including dressage, eventing, hunter trials and showjumping, as well as representing our local club in team competitions. Unfortunately, in October 1997, he got a nail in his near-fore which punctured the navicular bursa. He underwent a 'street-nail' operation and is now sound on a low dose of bute, although his competing days are over.
