This border screens our neighbour's parking space, so lots of evergreen shrubs have been planted - see plant list below. Lavatera were initially planted to form a quick screen, but these are slowly being removed as the other shrubs mature. Although we want to screen the parking space, there are views behind to woodland and pasture, which we want to retain. For this reason, the shrubs chosen are those described as suitable for hedging, which means they can be pruned to keep them at the right height. The border seemed to lack a focal point so I have created an informal path leading to a large terracotta container, in the centre of the border. The path is made simply from the fragments of sandstone that are present in the soil, just pressed into the earth. The right hand side of the border faces north west, and gets very little direct sunlight, whilst the left hand side gets full sun.
