Surfing through the web I found this program that acts as a proxy and filters out unwanted HTTP pages. By filtering out unwanted .GIFs the pages are (almost) free from advertisments that corrupt your privacy. In addition to that pages are loaded faster than ever.
For the program was developed for a unix environment, setting options is made by manually changing a gazillion of option files (in fact, it's about four of them...). fortunately, the manual and source code is delivered with the executable.
Becaue I am a combination of a lazy guy an a good windows programmer, I suddenly realized the need for a proper user interface.
The result is a Shell Extension (you know those cute icons in the task bar, don't you?) that is configured using the standard property page mechanism form Windows 95 and NT 4.
The project is still under construction, so not everything my be working (and of course not everything is documented...), but fortunately the Windows95 version is fully configfile-compatible with the original version, so if you'd like to do something the property-pages won't allow, just do it in the files (and please leave me a note that I can fix it...). Be sure to have the original version too, until my version comes with full-flavored features and instructive online help.
The project arose from some hours of beeing-not-so-busy-time, but I would very much like to improve it, if anybody wants to (I don't like to write software just for myself), so I you like it, just let me know!
