Lesson 13
Executive Portraiture

Objective
On-site executive portrait of corporate partners for Annual Report.

- Metered through window for outside exposure. f8 @ 1/125th
- Light positioning is critical when shooting against glass.
Check and doublecheck for reflections.
- The small car on the desk is a specific prop as the company is
involved in automobile leasing.
- All lights must be balanced for the outside exposure. We chose to
shoot f11 @ 1/125th to reduce the impact of the background.
Lighting
- #1 A single bank light, positioned about 7 feet off the
floor. f11
- #2 A fill light to open up shadow (f 5.6½)
- #3 Kick flash to separate darker suit form background. f11½ was
required to brighten the suit sufficiently.
Cool Trick!
Where ever possible, I believe that Executive portraits should include
a personal touch. This could be a hobby or something directly connected
to the business.
The inclusion of personal objects allows you to talk to the subject about
something other than photography.
