Calpro Ingredients is the division of Golden Cheese Company responsible for the sales and marketing of whey protein concentrates (WPC). Calpro is a leading supplier of sophisticated high protein WPC products in both North America and Japan.
The liquid whey released from cheese manufacturing contains valuable high-grade proteins. Advances in technology over the last 15 years have allowed these proteins to be recovered from the whey stream, as whey protein concentrates, by a process known as ultrafiltration.
High protein WPC's are used in a wide variety of food applications. Due to the high nutritional value of whey protein, Calpro products are used extensively in nutritional applications. Calpro WPC's are a protein source in specially designed diets for hospital patients, weight loss/meal replacer products, sports beverages, health bars and protein supplements.
Calpro whey protein concentrates are also used as functional food ingredients. In these applications, the WPC performs a particular function, for example: emulsifying, whipping, binding in a food system. Food systems where Calpro WPC's are used as functional ingredients include salad dressings, soups and sauces, baked products, dairy desserts and meat products.
