Evening in Haverigg.
Scenery from Haverigg
in Cumbria
No, I haven't done any adjustments to the picture on the right, this is a real sunset in Haverigg a small village in the north of England.  Beautiful isn't it?
This image below is still a nice sunset but not quite so stunning as the one above. This one on the right was taken during wet weather, though the day cleared up towards evening.
Ullswater, one of the famous lakes in the Lake District, and to me one of the most beautiful.
These are some of the places I go for inspiration when I feel tired or dispirited.  The calm of the lakes, the beauty of a sunset are just a few of the things that help to restore one's equilibrium.

Another that I indulge in is to stand with my head tilted back gawping at the stars that occassionally stud the night sky down the lane.

You should then see (underneath) the same area, just after the rainstorm had ended.  If you are lucky enough to be able to hear .wav files you should also hear the clap of thunder.  Enjoy!
This page contains a rather neat change-over effect on the larger picture, this may mean the page takes a few moments longer to load.  I rather think it's worth it - I hope you do too.
Here's a later sunset.  It happened on the weekend of the 19th & 20th of August 2001, you've never seen anyone grab a camera so fast!

Not sure what this type of cloud is called - but it might be cumulostratus.  Certainly gave an impressive sunset - and it just went on getting more and more brilliant, click on this image to see what happened next -
