Here's my new Star Box lid, all laid out ready for turning each section into a tile using Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE).  But here I'm just trying out what I'll put in each triangle.
Here below are some of the tiles I've been trying out.  Made with thick grey card, with white card stuck on top - then painted with acrylic paints, then using an embossing pad and adding layer after layer of UTEE - succeding layers while the UTEE is still hot and molten - then various things either sprinkled on pushed into the hot UTEE and or a stamp pushed in to creat a relief image that can then be highlighted with Pearl-ex rubbed into the image.  And voila!
This is red acrylic undercoat with some "Interference Blue" Pearl-ex mixed into the paint.  UTEE; about 4 layers, maybe 5.  Then a previously hand carved holly leaf stamp pushed into the hot UTEE, then brilliant gold Pearl-ex rubbed over the relief image, and a little around it too.
This one has a pearl undercoat with copper wire spirals - made from electric lighting flex - a bargain at 12p a metre from the local electric shop!
Here I used a purple acrylic "Lumiere" again. and I very, very gently set a skeleton leaf into hot UTEE - then I added another 1 or 2 layers of UTEE to ensure the leaf was entirely covered.  Then I rubbed copper pearl-ex over just the leaf.
Here's a look at the first attempt at Tiger's Eye paper - made with oil pastels on Parchment - notice the nice reptilian texture?  That's made when peeling the two sheets apart.  Brilliant for backgrounds for cards, especially when used with gold card behind it - the colour glows through!
And here's my favourite, Lapis Lazuli. These pictures are all close-ups to show the detail.  This Lapis Lazuli paper hasn't yet got its gold flecks added, I'm waiting for decent glue to arrive, as soon as it does I'll post pictures of the finished Lapis Lazuli paper.  Gorgeous isn't it?
This is the Malachite paper, this looks especially good if a bright green paper is set behind it.  I used this on a recent swap project, pictures of which I'll post as soon as the recipients receive theirs in the post.
Looks just like reptilian skin, doesn't it?
