USCG Safety Requirements as required shall be meet during all competition.

DEFINATIONS AND INTENT

Hopefully most will look for ways to build or design a better boat within the simple rules above but some will look for lopholes instead. To control this, it will be neccessary to define and expand on the intent and letter of the rule.

FAQ

LOA: From the tip of the bow (of the forward hull in the case of triscaph or staggered hulls) to the transom (or rear of aft hull or hulls) excluding rudders. Boomkins or Bowsprits that are part of the vessel count in LOA.

KITES: they will be included in the weight of the hull as part of the gear before launching.

CONTROL POSITION; The intent is obviously to make things like hiking or trapeze or other devices requiring physical movement illegal.

Orientation can be Fore and Aft (facing forward ) or Athwart ships (facing the windward or leeward) but cannot be changed underway during a competition. To put it bluntly "BUTT IN ONE PLACE" (TY dc).

To keep it simple we aren't going to worry about body english or leaning outboard. Consensus is that you can only move your personal cg 6-8" so it is more a trimming factor than a stability factor.

We won't have weighted vests in the class and individual designs and sailing tactics will be reviewed on a case by case for adhering to the intent of the rule. If necessary a back rest if orientated athwartship can be added to the rule.

SPEED EXTREMES: The idea is not to generate a one way speed machine but a vessel capable of negogiating a normal range of sailing operations. tacking, jibing, going to weather, running and reaching and being nimble and manuverable. The standard courses specified and the competition by database records eliminating high and low runs, makes this factor a minimum one.
Two proposals that might be instituted is a sub class and course for 2 way speed and a wind strength factor limiting competition records to conditions with wind speed under say 25K.
This is something where your input and actual activities will play a part.

MONOHULLS: There are no limits on numbers of or lack of hulls within the size and weight definitions.

CREW: While visualized as a single hander, everyone isn't 225 lbs so I see no reason to limit it to single handers. If you have a 150 hull weight and you have a couple of youngsters or lightweights in any combination to bring the boat to the 350 limit , lets go for it.

IN or ON: I was thinking in (see minfoiler) yet obviously for many design concepts this won't be possible (see jabberwocky) and since we don't want to rule anyone or any vessel out on esoterics we stick simply with the "BUTT IN ONE PLACE" on , or in.

If you have any questions on how your idea would fit in or if your vessel fits the class send your question to the "EZRSAIL@trikini.com" Try to include a photo or sketch and limit to one issue per Email. We'll answer and if it seems to apply broadly post it here.
