Fernando Luis

(1932 - 1983 Cuba)

Ramon Carulla and Fernando Luis were friends. I remember the day in 1973
when they walked into my gallery on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. They
looked kind of rough and it was the day of the sidewalk art fair.
Every artist and would-be artist had visited the gallery that day.

Ramon, who spoke better English, said that his friend who had just arrived in Miami would like to show me some of his work. I told him to come back later. When he returned, the work he brought with him convinced me that he was destined to become famous.
Unfortunately, Fernando died before his dreams were fulfilled
