FICSA
About the Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations
The world needs international organizations that are equipped, financed and structured in such a way as to serve mankind efficiently. Those organizations cannot foster peace, human rights, solidarity and cooperation among peoples and economic and social development unless they apply fundamental labor values and rights to their own officials.
FICSA PROTECTS THE RIGHTS OF INTERNATIONAL CIVIL SERVANTS
A group of international civil servants from several United Nations organizations founded FICSA in May 1952 to represent the concerns of all staff working for the United Nations system. Since that time, FICSA has grown into a federated group of 27 staff associations/unions from organizations within the United Nations system. Twenty-four additional staff associations/unions outside the common system are consultative members. Fourteen Federations of United Nations Associations (FUNSA) are observers. The diversity of membership ensures that all staff in the field and at headquarters duty stations have the opportunity to exchange views and information about conditions of service and seek the Federation's assistance and support in addressing their concerns.
FICSA has substantial programmes in the following areas: General Service Questions, Professional Salaries and Allowances, Conditions of Service in the Field, Social Security/Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources Development, Legal Questions, and Staff-Management Relations.
FICSA has offices in Geneva, Switzerland and New York City.
