Train Information - Who knows what (and when)?

Comparisons between train travel and the airline industry are difficult to make. Many people visit our office in the Munich train station and inadvertently refer to it as an airport "terminal" or call the train platform a "gate". As far as information for flying is concerned, you will probably turn to a travel agent or the airline itself. With trains, it's a different story altogether.

Many travel agents (outside Europe) are very uncomfortable obtaining train information; not only does it require a lot of time and offer very few financial rewards, the information for a specific train connection is not always easy to find. Don't count on short lines in front of the information desks at major train stations all over Europe. The small timetable provided with most Eurailpass, Eurail Flexipass and Selectpass products is merely a summary of major connections and makes no mention of train numbers (necessary for making reservations). For some of the major cities in Europe, EurAide has listed possible connections.
