MORNINGSIDE CREEK

- Defination -

The Morningside Creek (aka Muncie Creek, aka Hamilton-Miller Ditch) transverses Morningside in a roughly 45 degree angle entering from the north-east and departing from the south-west.

The Morningside Creek facilitates the drainage of approximatly ten square miles, originating in the southern half of Section Number 32 in Hamilton Township of Delaware County in the State of Indiana, the United States of America , predominatly flowing in a general south-westernly manner approximatly seven miles to terminate at White River at Muncie, Indiana.

- 100 Year Flood Plain of the Morningside Creek -

Based upon my 1995 research from up-dated 1990 statistics there are 140 homes located inside the "One Hundred Year Flood Plain" of the Morningside Creek.

Prohibative construction and land use restrictions apply at those properties located within the "100 Year Flood Plain" , where property owners can recieve a fine as high as $50,000.00 plus daily additional lesser fines from one or more government agency if in violation.

Violations can be imposed for such examples as adding fill dirt to low water accumulation areas in their yard or constructing a storage shed, etc.
